Nestled in the heart of the entertainment capital, Comcast NBCUniversal’s newly renovated campus embodies the essence of the NBCUniversal brand while honoring its rich history and culture. Central to the project is an expanded and modernized paseo that seamlessly connects key entry points, landscaped open spaces, and features a state-of-the-art employee center along with a newly constructed office building. EGG’s comprehensive experiential graphic design program plays a pivotal role in unifying this transformative development, fostering a dynamic environment that encourages connection, collaboration, and engagement with the surrounding outdoor spaces.
From the iconic Universal globe at the arrival plaza to the expansive paseo, EGG has meticulously designed a series of identity, placemaking, and wayfinding elements that collectively establish a distinctive sense of place. Majestic portals mark each entrance, subtly incorporating an embossed branded pattern to enhance the arrival experience into the campus. Throughout the space, timeless materials—such as stone and bronze—are complemented by refined detailing and strategic lighting, including at key wayfinding and identity monuments that define the paseo.
Both the employee center and office building thoughtfully showcase the depth and legacy of the studio’s storied history. A striking feature is the grand staircase, encased in crystalline prismatic rods. Each level of the staircase is adorned with over 200 curated quotes from film, television, and news media, further reinforcing the studio’s enduring cultural impact.
EGG also developed a sophisticated signage system that harmonizes with the warm finishes of the commissary and other food and beverage outlets, as well as the understated palette of the 11-story office building. Digital signage, amenity blades, and office and workstation identifiers seamlessly integrate with the neutral tones and natural materials throughout the space. This cohesive design language is crafted for long-term durability, reflecting the timeless and enduring brand identity of NBCUniversal.
